Applications of Zinc Spray Booth for LPG Cylinder

  • Cylinder Manufacturing: Freshly made cylinders receive a protective zinc coating before painting.
  • Cylinder Refurbishment & Revalidation: Used cylinders are stripped of old coatings, zinc-sprayed, and repainted for extended service life.
  • Industrial Gas Cylinders: Oxygen, nitrogen, and other industrial gas cylinders can also be protected using zinc spray booths.
  • Corrosion Protection in Harsh Environments: Cylinders used in coastal or high-humidity regions benefit greatly from zinc metallization.

Traditionally, protective coatings such as paint or hot-dip galvanizing have been used, but these methods often come with drawbacks such as uneven coating, high energy costs, and environmental concerns. The zinc spray booth for LPG cylinders offers a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly solution for corrosion protection.

By using thermal spray zinc coating technology in a dedicated metalizing booth, LPG cylinders receive a uniform, adherent zinc wire coating that provides long-lasting rust prevention and meets strict safety and quality standards.

A zinc spray booth, also known as a metalizing booth or arc spray booth, is a controlled environment where zinc or zinc-aluminum alloy is applied to LPG cylinders using thermal spray technology.

In this process, zinc wire is melted using an electric arc spray gun or flame spray gun and then atomized by compressed air into fine particles. These particles are then propelled onto the surface of the LPG cylinder, forming a dense, strongly adherent coating.

The booth is designed to contain overspray, collect dust, and extract fumes, ensuring a clean and safe working environment while maintaining coating quality.

Metalizing Spray Booth

Metalizing spray booth design will bring down the complexities of cylinder manufacturers, which were earlier due to higher production demands & uneven manual coating work. Spray Blast India has been active in the field of manufacturing metalizing spray Booth systems for more than the last 20 years. The core competency of the company is to produce and develop thermal spray coating equipment as well as automation.

How Zinc Spray Booth Works

  • Cylinder Preparation: LPG cylinders are cleaned using abrasive blasting to remove old paint, rust, and contaminants. Surface roughness is created to improve zinc adhesion.
  • Loading into Spray Booth: Cylinders are placed inside the zinc spray booth on a turntable or conveyor system.
  • Zinc Wire Feeding: Pure zinc (≥99.9%) or zinc-aluminum alloy wire is fed into the spray gun.
  • Melting Process: The zinc wire tips are melted using an electric arc (most common for cylinder coating) or an oxy-fuel flame.
  • Atomization & Spraying: Compressed air atomizes the molten zinc and sprays it evenly onto the cylinder surface.
  • Coating Formation: The zinc particles flatten and solidify upon contact, forming a dense and uniform coating.
  • Cooling & Curing: Coated cylinders are air or water-cooled to stabilize the coating.
  • Optional Painting: A paint coating can be applied over zinc for aesthetic and extra protection.

LPG Cylinder

LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), an extremely inflammable gas, is always suggested to be used by following a list of safety directions and so being practiced with its equipment and accessories. An LPG cylinder-making plant is limited to having expected quality standards. These LPG cylinders are metallic, so hazards of getting degraded due to corrosion are determined, and so surface processing like paint, primers, aluminum spray, or zinc spray booth, etc. required to be applied to cope with this problem. Worldwide LPG cylinder & tank manufacturers are doing zinc spray, so quality matters for these cylinders has come within the comfort zone.

But investigations on LPG have opened more scopes where this gas can be used, and then increasing demand has forced manufacturers to produce more gas, which eventually requires an increase in cylinder production, so now quantitative quality has become a serious concern. Spray Blast, India, has assisted various LPG cylinder manufacturers by providing them zinc spray booth.

Recently, Spray Blast has manufactured a complete automatic zinc spray booth for one of the largest cylinder manufacturers in India. This system needs personal intervention only for loading and unloading LPG cylinders and for the supervision of the process.

LPG Cylinder Blasting Booth

LPG Cylinder Blasting Booth is utilized to clean the outside of the LPG cylinders by blasting the coarseness material coming from the turbines of the machine in a limited chamber. The LPG cylinders get shot impacted as they go through the blasting chamber on the base of the machine. The cylinders likewise get pivoted on the rollers as they go through to guarantee the cleaning of the total surface.

LPG Cylinders, LPG Cylinders are taken care of in the work unit on diabola rollers. The cylinders turn while pushing ahead and shoot impacted inside the impact chamber. The different limits of machines to suit various sizes of LPG Cylinders can be made. We have additionally made an overhead transport type machine with 6-shaft wheels to clean the cylinders. Subsequent to the sand blasting machine, the cylinders are passed on to a metal splash booth on a similar transport for metal coating.

LPG Cylinder Blasting Booth is composed of

  1. Blasting Chamber
  2. Lower cabin with the helical mover
  3. LPG Cylinder Rotation and Moving System
  4. Elevator
  5. Sift & Separator
  6. Dry Filter Unit (dust collector)
